Product Care

Handling

All of our metals, excluding Stainless Steel, are coated with a lacquer finish to protect the metal from changing drastically. It is our belief that the customer should care for our work with regular maintenance just like they would a fine piece of furniture. We recommend soft, clean gloves and blankets be used when handling and prepping the hood for installation.

Metal Finishes

Natural Brass, Natural Copper, Natural Steel, Natural Zinc, Antique Brass, Antique Copper, Antique Steel, Antique Zinc, All Vintage Finishes

These finishes are coated with lacquer to protect the metal and prolong the life of the finish. It is our belief that the customer should care for our work with regular maintenance just like they would a fine piece of furniture. To clean lacquer finished hoods, we recommend using a soft cloth and if need be, some light, soapy water. While cleaning, one should make sure to rub lightly to not scratch the hood or rub off lacquer. By NO means should you use ANY type of chemical or cleaner as it will be detrimental to the finish. If an issue does arise, do NOT try to fix it yourself. Take pictures of the hood and email them to info@haubehoods.com and we will contact you to discuss what can be done. Pictures are necessary for us to give further instruction.

Natural Stainless Steel

Because of the nature of the material, Stainless Steel does not require any type of lacquer or protectant. To clean, we use a soft cloth and Magic brand Stainless Steel cleaner. Simply spray some of the cleaner on the cloth and rub on the Stainless Steel until the finish looks consistent. If your Stainless Steel hood has Brass, Copper, Steel, or Zinc straps, then try not to get any on them. If you do, wipe it off as soon as you can to prevent any oxidation.

All Mirrored Finishes

Mirrored or Polished finishes need to be treated with care to keep from being scratched. Cleaning should entail using soft paper towels, such as Viva brand, and an ammonia free glass cleaner. Spray some cleaner on a paper towel and rub lightly on the straps to get back to the pure polished finish.

Pro Tip

When cleaning or polishing a range hood, we ALWAYS recommend a factory-fresh cloth made of cotton or microfiber. An old rag or cleaning cloth, even if freshly laundered, will still have dirt and sand particles embedded in the fabric that can leave small scratch and swirl marks on your range hood.
